Craft/Guest Room

So weeks, maybe even months, ago I showed you these pictures of my craft/guest room.

Disaster zone.

I also promised that as soon as I cleaned, organized and rearranged the furniture I would post the pictures.  Of course this was said with the thought that it would be in a few short days.

Not months.

But just recently I finally tackled the mess and turned it into this.

While I wish I was able to display all my beautiful fabrics that I hoard and even all my yarn it also has to function as a guest room so everything is perfectly organized in the armoire and the closet and even a second hidden mini closet.  I love having a clean, fresh, bright and organized space to craft in.  I get so much more done.

Now to just keep it this way.

Pinterest

I am so sorry I have been so MIA lately.  All I can say is I am completely addicted to a little site called Pinterest.  You may have heard of it.  It is the greatest invention since the blog.  Right up there with the blog.  How many times do you find amazing tutorials, ideas or just inspiring photos on a blog or other website?  Like always?  Well with pinterest now you can "pin it" to your virtual pin boards.  I have all different pin boards - style, recipes, diy projects, sewing, knitting, babies, home inspiration etc.  It goes on and on.  The best part is just looking through all the items everyone else posted, re-pinning great ones and just discovering new blogs and websites.

I must give you warning.  Only proceed to this site if you are okay wasting mass amounts of time.  If you are student and heading into finals - WAIT!  If things are really crazy for you right now - WAIT!  No amount of willpower will keep you from this amazing website.

If you want to check it out and want your own pin board then request an invite.  It will take about a week to get on.  Sometimes more.  However, I have about 4 or 5 invites that will get you in automatically.  Actually everyone who gets on has that many invites so you can in turn invite your friends.  But if you don't want to wait a week, then I will send an invite to the first few people that either comment below or send me an email with their email address.

If you want to check my boards out then just click here.  I hope you find some amazing inspiration.

Bow Tutorial

As promised here is the bow tutorial.  It may not be the best way to make one of these but here is how I taught myself to make one.

For a medium sized bow I start with a piece of fabric that is 12" x 4".

I then fold it in half hot dog style with the pattern on the inside.

Then sew along the edge.

Flip it right side out.

Then do it all over again with a smaller scrap.

This is about 4" x 3".

fold

sew

flip

Now you have two matching pieces.

Then you make the bow by folding in the large piece like so....

It is important to make sure the ends overlap just a little and in the middle of the fabric.

Squeeze and fold the center so that it creates pretty pleats.

Secure with thread and a needle.

Then take your smaller rectangle and wrap it around the middle of the bow so that it comes together on the backside of the bow.  I fold the edge in so it looks neater.

Now secure that with needle and thread.

It should look something like this.

And flip it over and voila!

A Bow!

Bow-ties Please

There is nothing better than a tall, dark and handsome gentleman - except a tiny, soft and cuddly one.

My cousin-in-law Aimee (I hate calling her that so she will be referred as my cousin) recently asked that I make a bow-tie for her friend's baby boy.
Genius!
So we brainstormed the idea of sewing it onto a onesie.

I AM IN LOVE.

I absolutely love this onesie and I CANNOT WAIT to see it on this little boy.  He'll be such a dapper little guy.  I think it would even be adorable on a little girl.  Throw on a little skirt and this baby and she is stylin.  I am definitely going to be making a ton of different versions for Etsy soon.

So excited.

*oh and promise a tutorial for the bow is on its way*
