Well enough waiting, let's get straight to the before and after pics. I know that is what you all came here to see. Enjoy!
BEFORE
AND AFTER
We expanded the hallway by about a foot and installed new floors, trim and doors.
When we were planning the kitchen remodel we decided to use white appliances since we recently replaced the dishwasher and fridge. However, while appliance shopping we learned it would cost next to nothing for a stainless panel to cover our existing dishwasher thus making it stainless. It hasn't arrived yet but it gave us the freedom to upgrade to stainless appliances with the plan to replace the fridge in a year or two. I L-O-V-E my stovetop and oven.
The best part about the unit is that it doesn't have the large back of controls so the stovetop fit seamlessly over the granite. I also love that the controls are on the front so that the top can be all stove grates. I really could not ask for a better unit. And it really did not cost much more than our planned all-white appliances.
We are keeping the butcher block in the corner. I bought old corbels to spice it up and hide the real heavy-duty supports but we haven't gotten around to installing those yet. We are also replacing the old shelf with open shelves that we also haven't hung yet. I will post an update as soon as that is complete. You can check out the corbels here. We are painting the corbels and the shelves grey.
Now for some side by side comparisons:
A lot has happened in the past three months to turn the kitchen on the left into the kitchen on the right. To see the journey check out these posts:

Thank you Sherry! That is very kind. It definitely was not awful to look at but it was more what you couldn't see - severe water and rot damage.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Did you buy or make the curtains? I'm looking for some fabric exactly like that...
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! I did make the curtains. The fabric is from JoAnn's but I bought it about a year ago. I hope you find the fabric you are looking for!
ReplyDeleteOooh, thanks. I'll see if they still have it the next time I'm there, if not, onto something else!
ReplyDeleteHi. Would you mind disclosing costs for your kitchen re-do? Or just how much were your cabinets would suffice? The update looks amazing! I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh sure we worked really hard to keep the kitchen under a tight budget and Ikea was a big part of that. Our cabinets were just under $2,000. And I love the Ikea cabinets. I have to admit I didn't really want to check them out in the beginning only because it was my kitchen cabinets but they are amazing. Very long lasting, durable and the drawers and doors have the slow shut feature which I love. I hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteIt does, thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful! It inspires me to want to at least paint my kitchen a pretty yellow! :) I am a new follower via All Things Heart and Home! :) Have a wonderful day!
