flea market season has begun
Just have to remind everyone that the my FIRST EVER LINK PARTY is almost closed. Come and link up now.

Flea market season has officially begun for me. It was a bit cold this past Saturday but my sister and I decided to make a quick trip to welcome it in. We have a great local flea market called the Kane County Flea Market, it really is quite large and fortunately for me - only a 20 minute drive. Last summer we were there every month. So I have been anxiously awaiting the warmer weather. I wasn't really expecting much from the first trip of the season but look at what I walked away with - all for under $10.

I found a great, beat up little bench for $6! I've been wanting a little one for my kitchen and was pleasantly surprised to find this fat guy. He is one solid and stubby little bench and I love him. My only complaint is the strip of wood. I really didn't want to paint him but I think I may have to. The strip just bothers me. Especially after seeing it in pictures.
So what color do I paint it? I'm thinking of changing out the curtains too. I think I want to either leave it a blue color or maybe red???
I also bought some pages from an old children's book.
I loved the elephant. Oh and the lion. I think they will be so great to frame in a nursery or little boy's room. So I am going to hold onto them until I or someone I love has need of them. I liked the monotone color - I think it could be a cool color theme to incorporate.
Oh, and the photos ran me $4 total so all in all I think it was a fabulous opening day!
I hope it is a good sign of the rest of the season.

I have a new obsession this week - BOWS!
I just taught myself/made up a way to make these adorable bows. I am going to try and make some knitted ones next after I finish making a hundred more of these, I have so much scrap fabric I am dying to use.
I turned some into headbands and some into barrettes. I am also going to use them for my baby hats, particularly my baby bear girl hat. I love putting a bow pin on one of the ears.
I also am going to attach them to my knitted headbands.
But first I have been working on a quick little tutorial for you all. Similar to the fabric flower one.
It is almost ready to share. Promise.
In the meantime, link up your favorite project, tutorial, recipe or just your favorite post to my link party!
Thanks for stopping by!

Furniture Painting Time - soon
I am so excited. In the past few weeks I have accumulated 3 amazing pieces of furniture. For a whopping total of $17. Yay! Now the only problem is figuring out how to paint them and make them look amazing. But I am totally up for the challenge.
This hutch came my from my grandparents' home. She had a lot of collectibles and I loved going through the cupboards as a little girl exploring everything. I am so glad my mom and aunts let me take her home (oh and that family friends drove it all the way down here from Wisconsin). Thanks everyone.

I think I am going to paint this piece white or grey or some combo of both. Oh and the hardware is definitely getting an update. I am excited to watch this piece transform.
Next I found this side table for $7. I desperately needed a better side table in our bedroom and this piece seemed to fit the bill.
It's simple and needs a lot of love. I am going to paint this either navy or grey. I think the navy would be fun. Or maybe a dark graphite........I don't know. Oh and the hardware is going buh-bye.
I love this piece. I found it at a local used furniture store that is open only on Saturdays. They had about 15-20 of these old box tv frames. It is from a local hotel. They gave it to me for $10.
I had one day of sun and slight warmth to sand this sucker and I didn't waste anytime.
I am going to leave it natural and add a shelf on the inside. I am also going to replace the back board. Oh and maybe even add some curtained swing arms or a rod that allows the fabric to slide. Just depends. At first I was going to use this in my craft room but while it was stored in our living room waiting to be finished I used it to fold laundry and it was perfect. Great solid surface and great storage inside.
So stay tuned. As soon as it warms up I am going to get busy!
